On June 13, 2024, 97 students from the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) departments of RCET visited C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) Technopark, and the ISRO Space Museum, Tiruvananthapuram. The visit was an enriching experience that provided the students with an in-depth understanding of advanced software technologies and space research.
The students were accompanied by esteemed faculty members: Dr. Mathusuresh, Dr. Varatharajan, Dr. Sudarson Rama Perumal, Dr. Anusha Devi, Mrs. Suganthi, and Mrs.Thangam
The visit commenced at C-DAC, where students were introduced to the latest advancements in software development and high-performance computing. The C-DAC staff demonstrated various cutting-edge projects and technologies being developed at the facility, emphasizing their applications in diverse fields such as healthcare, cybersecurity, and data analysis. This exposure to real-world software solutions provided the students with practical insights and inspiration for their future projects.
Following the C-DAC tour, the group proceeded to the ISRO Space Museum, which showcases the remarkable achievements of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The museum offers a comprehensive overview of India’s space programs, including satellite development, launch vehicles, and space missions. The students had the opportunity to view models of rockets, satellites, and other space equipment, gaining a deeper appreciation of the complexities involved in space exploration.
A Senior Scientist guided the students through the exhibits, explaining the significance of each display and its contribution to India’s space endeavors. The visit to the ISRO Museum not only highlighted the technological advancements made by ISRO but also underscored the importance of interdisciplinary knowledge in achieving such milestones.
This educational trip to C-DAC and the ISRO Museum provided the ECE and AI students with valuable exposure to advanced technologies and their real-world applications. The hands-on experience and expert guidance made the visit highly informative and inspiring, motivating the students to excel in their respective fields.
