‘Spectra 2024’ is the annual departmental level technical fest of Rohini College of Engineering and Technology. At the department of Mechanical Engineering, ‘Spectra 2024’ was organized on 11/09/2024 (Wednesday). Technical events including Paper presentation, Technical Quiz, CAD modelling, Mr. Machine and Project Expo were conducted during the morning session, followed by Guest lecture at Grand Arena Auditorium.  About 350 students participated in the event.

            Mr. Shajith Hussain, Final year Mechanical Engineering student, welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Rajesh, Principal, delivered the presidential address. The Chief Guest was welcomed and introduced by Dr. Prince Sahaya Suderson, Associate Professor and Dean, Industrial Institute Interface. Dr. R. Swarna Priya, Head of the Centre, Department of Horticulture, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, enlightened the audience with a lecture on ‘Opportunities for Mechanical Engineers in Agricultural sector’. She spoke about hydroponics, vertical farming and usage of modern instruments in the agricultural sector. She emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research for building innovative machines that may improve the lifestyle of mankind.

            The winners of technical events were honored with a trophy and merit certificate. Later, Mr. Collins, Final year Mechanical Engineering student, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing team, participants, and guest. The event was honored by Prof. Jeya Kumar, Vice-Principal; Dr. A. Sagai Francis Britto, Associate Professor and Placement Officer; Dr. M. Ezhilan, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Er. S. T. Arjun, Program coordinator graced the occasion.

During the afternoon session, non-technical events like Water rocketry, Photography, Jenga, Blow-ball and Fit-check took place at the department premises. All the students actively participated in the events, making it a grand success.
